Our average temperatures continue to run a tad below average through Tuesday, which will round out astronomical winter. Spring begins officially at 5:58 p.m. on Wednesday and our 10-day forecast will stay spring-ish.

The next couple nights will dip below freezing. Overnight, a weak area of low pressure passes south of us, so a few clouds may return as well as a couple of flurries. Otherwise, we keep it dry into Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the low 40s again tomorrow, and near 50 degrees Wednesday afternoon with increasing clouds.

As Thursday approaches, we are tracking a low pressure system that will bring scattered rain late Wednesday into Thursday, with a wintry mix farther north and in the mountains. Forecast models show a coastal low developing off the Carolina coast, and tracking northeast, meeting up with the cold front sweeping through New England Thursday evening. That coastal low is certainly worth watching since we also have high astronomical tides at that time.

Through Thursday, we may see either side of half an inch of rainfall across southern New England. A wintry mix and snow showers will be possible Thursday to the north, with lingering mountain snow showers on Friday. High temperatures are forecast to be in the upper 40s Thursday, mid 40s Friday.

Cooler air flows in with the northwest wind into Saturday so highs will be in the upper 30s north, low 40s south. We rebound right back into the low 50s Sunday. Both days are looking dry this weekend with tons of sunshine.

Our extended 10-day forecast reflects a warmer trend with low 50s next week. Off and on shower chances linger Monday night through Thursday. Nothing major, but just disturbances passing by.
