Take Caution as Temps Swell to Uncomfortable Heat in Excessive Heat Warning

High pressure to our south and low pressure to our north combine to draw heat in from the west and south for our Tuesday and Wednesday.

Under mostly sunny skies, high temperatures will be in the mid-90s. But combined with a dewpoint in the 70s, it could create a heat index of 100 to 105. It's combined feel of uncomfortable heat and humidity. That means we have to slow way down at work and keep well hydrated.

A cold front moves into far northern New England late Wednesday, with a few showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, we remain very hot and humid with highs in the 90s, and a heat index over 100 again.

Thursday we have cooler and drier air north, but it is still warm to hot south with a chance for thunderstorms, 70s north, 80s south.

High pressure in southeastern Canada pushes cooler air in for all Friday and Saturday. The front is stalled just south of New England so clouds may linger with a few showers. Highs will be in the 70s with wind from the northeast.

Warmer air returns Sunday with a sun and cloud mix, high near 80. Our Labor Day Monday should feature summer warmth returning, along with a slight storm threat, partly sunny, high in the 80s.
