Despite a warm, muggy start to the day, big temperature changes will arrive by the afternoon.
In Southern New England, that means morning temperatures go from the 70s to near 80, to the 50s and 60s by the end of the day. As those changes take place, expect waves of rain as well, particularly around and after lunchtime.
Showers will linger into this evening, but partial clearing develops later Wednesday night as lows drop into the 30s and 40s in Northern New England. Meanwhile, it will be 40s and 50s in the southern part of the region.
We’ll start Thursday with some breaks of sun, but clouds will win out over the course of the day. It will also be quite cool with highs only in the 50s! In fact, some cooler spots in the Worcester Hills may not even make it out of the 40s. A few showers will pop up during the afternoon, especially west of Worcester.
Rain turns steadier overnight Thursday into Friday morning, even mixing with some snowflakes in Northern Maine. Sunshine returns by Friday afternoon with highs near 60.
Saturday is the pick of the weekend because it will be bright and sunny, although cool with highs in the 50s. Sunday is warmer in the 60s, but clouds will increase and there may be a spot shower late in the day.
