Windswept rain will continue to fall across New England today, with the heaviest waves arriving mid to late afternoon. A widespread 0.75-1.75” is likely, with some locally higher amounts close to 2”.

Temperatures will remain locked in the 40s and 50s.

At the same time, southeast winds will be steady 15-25 MPH, with gusts around dinner time between 40 and 50 MPH for parts of Cape Cod and the Islands.

That southeast wind will push enough water towards shore to create pockets of minor coastal flooding in parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The wind will begin to die down overnight, as the steady rain tapers to showers.

Monday will be mostly dry, but still mostly cloudy. Peeks of sun will be most likely inland. Expect highs in the 50s to near 60.

An area of high pressure sitting over the Canadian Maritimes Tuesday and Wednesday will keep us locked in an easterly flow. That means more clouds, along with some mist or drizzle. Temperatures will pop into the 60s by mid-week though.

Another steadier area of rain arrives Thursday into Friday. Right now expect scattered showers for Trick or Treating, with heavier rain just afterwards, but the timing is still somewhat in flux since we’re a few days away.

Either way, sunshine and cooler air is likely by next weekend. Highs will only be in the low 50s for many.

Also remember to “fall back” one hour next Saturday night.
