(NECN/NBC News: Ian Williams) - The U.S.S George Washington and other U.S. Navy ships are heading to the Philippines to help with relief efforts after last week's devastating typhoon.
The Presidential Palace has been at pains to emphasize they are doing all they can to speedily get help to those affected areas.
A Presidential spokesperson says that aid was being dispatched and that communications are being restored.
He said that nobody would be forgotten, that aid would reach even the most far reaching areas.
Now this comes in the face of growing criticism from some of those areas that they're simply not getting any aid. That desperately needed water, food and shelter is not getting through.
Now aid flights are getting in, and the problem seems to be one of logistics, continuing issues with blocked roads and of course with communications.
Rescue workers are having problems still getting to some of the more outlying areas.

The U.S. has deployed the U.S.S George Washington, which is expected to arrive offshore within the next day of two.
There have been offers of help from more than 20 countries world-wide, and of course many, many NGO's also saying that they too will bring in this desperately needed aid.
