Boston Mayor Walsh: We Have to Keep an Eye on the Snow Budget

(NECN) - A snow emergency is in effect across the city of Boston Wednesday. The snow has started to fly and it's intensifying rapidly.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh joined us over the phone to discuss the decision and moving forward.

He said the calls were made late Tuesday night.

Walsh said about 500 pieces of equipment will be active and treating the roads in the city.

Because of a parking ban, cars will be towed if they are parked in a banned area.

He said that there is money in the budget for snow removal and treatment, but he has to keep an eye on it.

“There’s not much we can do about it if it keeps snowing, but hopefully, we have to keep an eye on that as well,” he said.
