(NECN: Brendan Monahan, Newton, Mass.) - As forecasted, much of the snow came Saturday night and overnight. Since the sun did make an appearnce Sunday afternoon, roads in Newton, Mass., aren't in bad shape.
Eastern Massachusetts didn't get hit with fluffy snow, instead a mixed bag of precipitation covered the area. For many people, that has resulted in a long Sunday afternoon full of shoveling.
The real problem is that even after clearing sidewalks of snow, they turned to ice as temperatures dropped.
On the roads, crews kept sanding and salting all day so the ice wouldn't stick.
There have been reports of minor crashes throughout the area. Police are warning of potentially slick conditions Sunday night.
