Coast Guard Measures Ice Thickness Along Maine Rivers

(NECN: Maine) - The temperatures are getting warmer around much of New England, but that's causing some real concerns about flooding in some areas.

In Maine, the U.S. Coast Guard is measuring ice thickness along major state rivers. They are trying to figure out whether it is time to start breaking the ice, in hopes of avoiding ice jams.

Overall, conditions for spring flooding in Maine do not appear any worse than normal, but officials are keeping a close eye on those rivers.
