While snow is what we all look at, the first flakes are a mere spectacle compared with the potential coastal impact.
The weather pattern has been conducive to deep troughs in the east. My gut feeling is that we see the track shift north and west as time goes on. The NAO is positive, that usually means we have storm track inside the benchmark (40^N, 70^W). Most of the storm this fall have been inside runners.
If this one egos inland, then the snow shifts west and the wind at the coast is stronger and more perpendicular to the shore line.
The high tide is at Noonish Thursday, Midnightish Thurs Night, and just after lunch Friday.
A Mutli-Day storm is possible, as we are tracking several waves of low pressure. A weak low Monday Night, then a stronger one later Weds. Then another one or two waves Thursday and Friday. The weather models have a hard time focusing on which wave will be the strongest. Our forecast will become clear as we close in.
Here is much more information on The Potential Coastal Flood Threat near Boston. But we really have to watch the entire Coast from North Carolina to Maine.
