This map shows the record cold that has been welled up in Alaska the past couple of weeks. The combination of a strong high pressure cell building across the Eastern Pacific at the end of this week, along with a series of storm centers stretched from Central Canada across Hudson Bay and to the Northeast U.S., will set up a flow of wind from the west-northwest out of Alaska to Central Canada. Yet another strong storm in Eastern Canada this weekend will deliver a meaningful chunk of this bitter cold, arctic air into New England Sunday into Monday, likely holding high temperatures in the 20s on Monday.
