George Bush's Boat Runs Aground Near Maine Home

(NECN: Amy Sinclair, Kennebunkport, Maine) - Part of the fun of visiting Kennebunkport, Maine in the summertime is catching a glimpse of the man that locals call "41."

That's a nickname, of course, for former President George Herbert Walker Bush, who summers in Maine with his family.

Well, thanks to fog and a waning tide, tourists got more than they bargained for yesterday.

Bush's boat, the Fidelity IV, was stuck in the sand.

R.J. Potter, a retired radio man from Vermont, snapped photos as a crowd gathered gamely, trying to help free the boat from her embarrassing predicament.

Alas, they had to wait for the tide to return.

Fortunately, no one was harmed and the Fidelity IV is afloat again.
