Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano Tours Flood-damaged Rhode Island

(NECN: Warwick, RI) - U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano toured flood-ravaged Rhode Island this morning.

Napolitano got an aerial tour of the damage from the worst flooding to hit the state in 200 years.

Many of the worst-hit areas are still under water.

Napolitano says she is considering a plea by Ocean State officials who want more federal aid.

"The President is personally involved in this. He has opened up resources for our efforts by signing an emergency declaration and a major disaster declaration," said Napolitano.

"This week, the President made federal funding available," said Napolitano.

Call 1-800-621-FEMA for additional recovery information.

"We are committed to staying the course here," said Napolitano.
