Hot Bus Ride From New York City

(NECN: Jennifer Eagan: Boston, Mass.) - A Bolt Bus from New York City apparently had no air conditioning on a five-hour ride Thursday night.

Passengers told the Boston Globe that some complained of feeling light-headed during the journey on the discount bus service, where some seats sell for as little as a dollar.

A Bolt Bus spokesman issued an apology from the company, which said it is investigating the cause of the air conditioning outage and is offering refunds to passengers affected.

"At this time, we are investigating the incident as our maintenance team thoroughly evaluates the bus," said spokesman Timothy Stokes. "We apologize for any inconvenience our passengers have experienced on this particular trip and are working to provide a full refund for each of them."

An explosion in a manhole in the West Roxbury section of Boston at dinnertime on Thursday, which has been blamed on the heat, disrupted service for some businesses, including the restaurant West. Power was restored by 8 p.m.
