Hundreds of Thousands in Dark in Central Mass.

(NECN: Julie Loncich: Auburn, Mass.) - The lack of power is disrupting routines in central Massachusetts, where hundreds of thousands are without power and may be for several days or even a week or more.

In Connecticut, the record for the number of storm-related power failures --- set during Hurricane Irene two months ago --- was broken.

Major highways are clear, but passengers on an Amtrak train in central Massachusetts spent the night stranded on a Boston-bound trip.

Tree limbs laden with heavy, wet snow snapped under the weight and caused most of the power failures as people made snowmen with jack-o'-lantern heads in honor of the unusual late-October snowfall.
