Mass. Crews Prepare for First Winter Storm of 2014

(NECN: Justin Michaels) – The first snowfall of 2014 has arrived in New England as a winter storm. Massachusetts is expected to get the heaviest of the snowfall, with an anticipated 14 inches near the coast.

According to MassDOT, over 1,000 crews are working across Massachusetts and up to 4,000 can be called in.

The speed limit on the Mass. Pike has been reduced to 40 MPH from the New York Border to  Interchange 15 in Weston. State Police may extend that through the entire Turnpike.

According to MassDOT, the salt supply is fine and there are hundreds of thousands of pounds available.
