Massachusetts Residents Brace for January Nor'easter

(NECN: Greg Wayland, Lexington, Mass.) - Now is the time to get ready for the storm -- before the snow starts to fall.

Across New England, city and state officials are going over their storm plans. And, people are stocking up on shovels and other supplies.

Residents in the Boston, Massachusetts area can expect eight to 12 inches of snow with as much as 16 inches in Franklin County and the Berkshires in the western part of the state.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino has announced that a Snow Emergency and parking ban for the City of Boston will go into effect tonight at 9pm and Boston Public Schools will be canceled on Wednesday, January 12th in anticipation of a storm forecasted to bring blizzard-like conditions and heavy snow to the city.
