(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Charlton, Mass.) - Slushy conditions covered the roadways in Charlton early Wednesday morning, making for a slow commute.
State Police have reduced the speed limit along the Central and Western portions of the Massachusetts Turnpike to 40 miles per hour. As of 5 a.m., State Police reported three accidents along just the Central part of the Pike.
Conditions vary along the commute -- switching from rain to snow to freezing rain.
At least in the early morning hours, road crews were struggling to keep up with the elements.
