NStar Spokesman After Storm: 'We've Been Making Great Progress'

    Utility reported power was restored to 25,000 customers since start of storm (Published Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014)

    (NECN) - Utility crews made steady progress Sunday in their quest to restore power after Saturday's storm.

    As of 6:30 p.m., NStar was reporting that approximately 2,800 customers remained without power.

    Electricity was restored to 25,000 people since the beginning of the storm, according to the utility.

    NStar spokesman Michael Durand joined NECN to discuss the progress.

    "We've been making great progress," "If you are one of the 3,000 customers without power, we just want to make sure folks know that we are out there working hard. We will be restoring power more overnight. But there will be customers who are without power that, unfortunately, will be without power come Monday morning. It's just the nature of the damage that we've been coming across."

    Durand explained the impact of assistance from fellow utility crews around New England.

    "NStar has been part of Northeast Utilities for a couple of years now, and one of the best customer benefits is we have ready access to crews from Western Mass. Electric, from Connecticut Light and Power, from Public Service of New Hampshire, and all of them are joining us on the Cape to help in this restoration effort," he said.
