(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, New Bedford, Mass.) - Although it's days away from New England, many communities are starting to brace for the wind and rain that Hurricane Irene is sure to bring.
So far, police, fire and Coast Guard have been meeting with the port director of New Bedford to prepare for Hurricane Irene. The city has the largest stone structure on the East Coast on its side. The barrier is equipped to handle a Category 3 hurricane and a 20 foot storm surge.
