Propane Supply Concerns Growing as Storm Approaches

(NECN) – With an approaching storm coming to New England, there are worries about propane supplies for heating homes.

That's due in large part to the polar vortex weeks earlier, which put much of nation into the deep freeze.

The early demand has made it difficult for suppliers to catch up.

Fifteen states, including Vermont and Maine have emergency declarations in place easing limits on how many hours propane truck drivers can be on the road.

The Transportation Department has declared a home heating fuel emergency.

Propane prices across the Midwest have spiked as much as 46 percent over last winter, according to government data.
