Record High Temperatures in New England

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Records are falling throughout New
England as the region sizzles through an unusual spring heat spell.

The National Weather Service says the mercury hit 95 degrees at
T.F. Green Airport outside Providence at 2:30 p.m on Wednesday.
That broke the old record of 91 degrees for May 26 set in 1965.

A temperature of 98 degrees was recorded Wednesday at Bradley
International Airport outside of Hartford, breaking the previous
record of 94 degrees in 1965.

And in Worcester, Mass., the temperature rose to 93 degrees,
eclipsing the old record of 90 degrees in 1932.

Burlington, Vt. recorded a high of 91 degrees on Tuesday, tying
a record for that date set in 1946.

Forecasters say cooler temperatures are expected for the rest of
the week.
