Severe Storms Damage Buildings in Bridgeport, Conn.

(NECN: Brian Burnell, Bridgeport, Conn.) - It was over in an instant, except for the damage. Residents and business owners throughout Connecticut will be cleaning up for days after severe storms moved through southwestern Connecticut Thursday afternoon.

In Bridgeport, more than 10,000 customers are without power, and dozens of buildings have been damaged by the storms. A State of Emergency has been declared in the city, and the National Weather Service is investigating the possibility that a tornado moved through the city.

Remarkably, there were no serious injuries, and no one was trapped beneath the collapsed buildings.
