Sizzling Summer Day Has Mass. Beaches Full of Happy New Englanders

(NECN: Ally Donnelly, South Boston) - The temperature is rising here in New England. It's expected to reach into the mid-90s Wednesday, and it's going to feel a lot hotter.

People are flocking to beaches and pools to stay cool.

Massachusetts is staffing many of its beaches and pools with lifeguards early because of the heat.

If you are going to be out, remember to limit your outdoor activity, cut down on exercise and get plenty of rest.

You'll also want to be sure to remember your sunglasses, sunscreen and light clothing and, most importantly, stay hydrated.

Beach, boats, barbecue: who could ask for more on a Wednesday afternoon?

It’s a melting pot, but it’s a pot that is happily melting.

“I like the water. It’s so cold and I like cold stuff,” said one little girl.

Mother Nature has been a bit moody of late.

The first day of summer caught a few off guard.

It’s fun in the sun, and summer has just begun.

Happy summer!
