Ski Resorts in Maine Happy About March Snowstorm

(NECN: Marnie MacLean) - If you have to have a big snowstorm in March, at least this latest one dropped most of the snow in the one place that still wants it: Ski country.

In Maine, Sunday River ski resort got nearly twenty inches of fresh powder. The snow also came with very cold temperatures. With wind chill it was thirteen below zero on the top of the mountain. That didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm for the slopes though.

Mike Netto from Cape Cod said, "If this storm could keep dumping some powder all the way to July 3, we'd be happy!"

July 3 isn't likely, but this big late winter storm will help extend the season for some smaller ski areas and allow bigger resorts to draw in more business during the spring ski season.

It will also mean more time on the trails for snowmobilers and cross country skiers that rely almost entirely on natural snow for their winter fun.
