State of Emergency in Parts of Oklahoma

(NECNCNN/KWTV/KOTV/KFOR/KOC) - States of emergency are in effect in parts of Oklahoma today after heavy rain triggered enormous flash floods.

Many people were caught off guard prompting some tense and amazing rescues.

The severe thunderstorms ripped through parts of central Oklahoma causing flash floods, leaving thousands without power and many injured.

A state of emergency has been declared in 59 of Oklahoma's 77 counties.

Authorities are urging people not to drive through water-covered roads.

CNN's Sandra Endo is in Oklahoma City where people are cleaning up and bracing for more rain.
