Storrow Drive Flooded as Skies Open Up

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - A rash of flash flooding compromised streets in Boston and Somerville on Saturday afternoon.

Storrow Drive was flooded out, as seen in the video player above.

A water rescue was taking place on Mystic Avenue Parkway at the Assembly Square underpass, State Police said. Significant flooding was in the area.

State troopers and Somerville Fire crews were engaged in a water rescue effort where a woman was stranded atop her car. She is not a swimmer, and officials were attempting to rescue her -- the flooding complicated that effort.

Somerville Police confirmed that flash flooding a problem across the city, with Washington Street and Highland Avenue the main issues.

The MBTA was bussing passengers between the Jackson Square Station and Ruggles Station due to water over the tracks near Ruggles.
