(NECN: Carrabassett Valley, Maine) - Cathy Brockelman of Boxford, Massachusetts was aboard the chair lift at Sugarloaf ski resort in Maine that derailed today.
Cathy describes the scene and the horrifying incident to NECN.
Cathy says all of the chairs ahead of her and her husband crashed to the ground.
Cathy says she heard a noise and then they dropped a long distance, probably stopping a foot or two above the ground. Cathy says the safety bar held them them as they bounced back up.
Cathy is praising the rescue crews at the mountain.
Cathy and her husband are not hurt, but six other skiers are injured. Officials say the injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.
