Tornadoes Rip Through South; Nearly 300 Dead

(NECN/CNN) - The number of dead from the tornadoes that ripped through the South has risen to at least 269, including more than 160 in Alabama.

National Guard troops have been activated to help search devastated areas for people still missing.

President Barack Obama plans to visit Alabama on Friday to view storm damage and meet with survivors.
