Utility Workers Return Home After Helping in Maine on Christmas

(NECN) - Utility workers from across New England traveled to Maine to help get the power back on.

Crews from NSTAR and Western Massachusetts Electric went to Maine on Christmas Eve to help.

Saturday, some of the workers from Massachusetts came home. One of them told NECN why he gave up his holiday to travel north.

"Christmas was a little different this year," said Patrick O'Malley of NSTAR. "All the crews- we're very proud of them, they gave up their time for their holidays to spend up at Central Maine Power, and they did great ... All the Maine residents were fantastic."

Utility companies in Maine have mutual aid agreements with other companies allowing for sharing of resources during emergencies.
