White Out in the Midwest

(NECN/NBC News: Jay Gray) - Snow and ice have a firm grip on the Midwest.

A brutal winter storm could dump as much as two feet of snow in some areas.

One of the cities taking the hardest hit is Kansas City.

Digging out has been almost impossible as strong winds continue pushing snow.

In many areas, it's falling at a rate of two inches an hour.

In some places, the conditions were even too tough for snow plows.

In Kansas parts of I-70 have been shut down because of the weather.

Airports across the region have also been shut down.

The storm is taking aim at the East Coast as it pushes onward, and could dump more snow on already frozen areas of New England.
