Wildfire Smoke Consumes Flagstaff Skyline

(NECN/KTVK: Flagstaff, Ariz.) - Over 1,000 homes were advised to evacuate as the second wildfire in two days raged out of control in Flagstaff.

Law enforcement officers were going door to dor in the Timberline Estates, Wupatki Traisl and Fernwood neighborhoods, telling residents to leave their homes.

Authorities know of no building that have been burned.

The second fire, spotted Sunday morning, has charred more than 500 acres. U.S. Highway 89, northeast of Flagstaff, has been closed due to overwhelming smoke from the fire.

Crews on the ground, in air tankers and in helicopters are trying to protect homes.
