Fans worldwide celebrate Michael Jackson's 51st birthday

(NECN/ABC) – Saturday would have been Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday, and fans around the world paid tribute to the late singer over the weekend. In Paris they danced to a medley of Jackson hits and observed a moment of silence. Zombies appeared in Moscow – a homage to Jackson’s “Thriller” video. They were topped by over 12-thousand Mexican fans who tried to break the Guinness World Record for most people dancing to “Thriller” simultaneously. But at a Las Vegas tribute, the singer’s father Joe Jackson, told a British network that he wants the U.S. congress to investigate his son’s death. The L.A. Coroner said Friday Jackson’s death was a homicide caused primarily by a powerful anesthetic and other sedatives. While fingers are being pointed at Jackson’s cardiologist Doctor Conrad Murray, Joe Jackson says there’s more to the story. At the weekend movie box office – horror, mayhem and terror reigned supreme. The top five movies were all violence-prone, leading with “The Final Destination” , the latest installment from the horror franchise. “Final Destination” grossed over $28-million over the weekend. The fictional Nazi killers from “Inglourious Basterds” dropped to second place in their second week, taking in $20-million. Another horror film, Halloween-2, was in third place, followed by the sci-fi “District 9,” and “GI Joe” rounding out the top five. ABC News reporter Brad Wheelis has more from Hollywood.
