Pope Benedict, Geffen to release album

(NECN/ABC) – A popular record label has high hopes for a new release. In fact, you might say they are relying on a higher power. The famous London recording studio has been home to music legends like The Beatles and scores of other top selling artists. Pope Benedict XVI could be next. Geffen Records is producing the album, mixing his voice reciting psalms and prayers alongside classical music. The producers are hoping the Pope will like the finished product. There was a Pope who climbed the charts before. Pope John Paul II made a music video fit for MTV. His album, ABBA PATER…nothing to do with the other ABBA…featured him singing to a hypnotic beat. He may not want his MTV, but the Bible does say to “worship with music.” A new papal album could inspire millions around the world to do just that. Gloria Riviera, ABC News, London.
