Tarantino scores big with “Inglourious Basterds”

(NECN/ABC) – Guitarist James Burton is known for working with the Elvis Presley and Ricky Nelson bands. But over the weekend, he tried to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for leading the largest guitar ensemble, ever. About 800-guitar players showed up and strutted their strings in Shreveport. But not enough to break the record of 1802-participants. Legendary singer and songwriter Isaac Hayes was remembered this weekend at a special service to celebrate his life. Nearly a year after his death. A special grave marker was also revealed, one his widow says will help all of his fans feel a connection to the musical icon. Quentin Tarantino scored big at the box office over the weekend. His latest release, “Inglourious Basterds”, claimed the top spot with nearly $37-million. The movie stars Brad Pitt as the leader of a group of Jewish-Americans who carry out violent wartime acts of retribution across Europe during World War 2. Runner up at the box office is “District-9”, which hauled in close to $19-million in ticket sales, followed by “G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra” with $12-and-a-half million. ABC News reporter Brad Wheelis has more from Hollywood.
