Baby elephant rescued from manhole in Thailand
(NECN/TPBS) – A baby elephant became trapped when it fell into a manhole in a drainage ditch in eastern Thailand’s Rayong province. The Thai Public Broadcasting Service filmed the young animal struggling in the confines of the roughly one-metre square hole as rescue workers attempted to free it. The accident occurred on Sunday as the elephant’s handlers took it to work. Rescuers used a mechanical digger to free the pachyderm in an operation that took three hours. The animal was unharmed in the accident.
