Pres. Obama: Bonds Between U.S. and Israel ‘unbreakable'

(NECN/CNN) - Pres. Obama tells AIPAC bonds between U-S and Israel are unbreakable. He got applause as he told members of AIPAC that the U.S. stands behind Israel. He also mentioned his Friday meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"On Friday, I was joined at the White House by Prime Minister Netanyahu, and we reaffirmed that fundamental truth that has guided our presidents and prime ministers for more than 60 years-that, even while we may at times disagree, as friends sometimes will, the bonds between the United States and Israel are unbreakable, and the commitment of the United States to the security of Israel is ironclad," he said.

The President also tried to clear the air over a comment he made in a speech Thursday which he says was taken out of context. Obama said he was never calling for a return to 1967 borders-- but that that is a good starting point for Israelis and Palestinians to look at as they move toward a two-state final solution.
