Don Seiffert of the Boston Business Journal joined NECN to discuss a string of IPOs coming from Massachusetts biotech companies.

Seiffert called shift in the biotech industry unprecedented.

"For investors, it's been a huge boom," Seiffert explained. "Investors are drawn to these kinds of investments because they are looking at all this money they can make fast. I mean, biotechs are known and notorious for making huge swings- for both 50 percent up or 50 percent down in a single day. So you can make a lot of money, but you can also lose a lot of money."

In addition, Seiffert discussed how keeping these entrepreneurs in Boston benefits the Massachusetts economy.
