Local apples ripe for the picking
(NECN: Kristen Caira, Dartmouth, Mass.) – It may only be the “unofficial” end of summer, but the feel of fall is in the air — and in the trees. Local apple orchards report this year’s crop picking is gearing up to be prime. Third-generation apple farmer Brian Medeiros has seen a lot of ups and downs on the family farm in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, but 2009 is ripening up to be a good one. Last spring was perfect for honey bees and apple blossoms, and all that rain in June was a boon for apple farmers. NECN’s Kristen Caira reports.
