MWRA seeks to end water monitoring rules

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) – The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority says it can save $3 million annually by halting its monitoring of water quality and marine life near the outflow of a treated waste water pipe in Massachusetts Bay. Officials at the agency that oversees the greater Boston area’s water supply are appealing to state and federal environmental agencies to relax the requirement for environmental monitoring.
