Study: 33 Percent of Couples Are Anxious About Saving Together

Saving can be especially tricky, especially when you’re not the only name on the account. A new study released by Boston-based financial services company John Hancock, 74-percent of couples share a checking account, 68-percent of couples share a savings account, and 33-percent of couples say they feel anxious and confused about sharing their savings. Steve Dorval, President of John Hancock Personal Financial Services, discusses how a lack of communication among couples significantly contributes to that anxiety. Dorval says they are trying to create an opportunity for couples to communicate by building an app called Twine. The app makes it simple and easy to change your relationship with money, automatic to establish a recurring deposit, and simple to just get started saving. Twine also encourages users along the way.
