Cancer survivor, former Patriot Andruzzi riding PMC

(NECN) – Joe Andruzzi, three-time Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots, is a cancer survivor. He will ride in his first Pan Mass Challenge this weekend as a member of the Patriots Platelet Pedalers. It is the 30th anniversary of the event which has raised over $239 million. “I look at life in a whole new way: life is short, you can’t change what you did yesterday and you don’t know what tomorrow. You got to live for today,” Andruzzi said. “I have four young children that I strive for. Cancer was a bump in the road for me.” Andruzzi’s wife started the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, about which you can learn more by visiting JoeAndruzziFoundation.com. “Cancer is a scary disease and it affects anybody,” Andruzzi said. “Here I am a 10-year NFL veteran that woke up one day with a stomach ache. Two weeks later, I started chemo and a couple weeks after that I couldn’t get out of bed. “Cancer is cancer, no matter what form, wherever it is in your body,” Andruzzi said. “Every little bit helps, and that’s what I truly believe in. We give out grants to family’s from out foundation and, if we can turn around and just help one person here and one person there, where cancer is getting more expensive these days and people aren’t as fortunate.” To donate to the PMC, visit PMC.org or the Team NECN donation page.
