PMC funding next big things in cancer research

(NECN) – With the PMC set to kickoff on Friday night with the PMC Kickoff Party televised on NECN, the founder of the Pan Mass Challenge, Billy Starr, was a guest on Good Morning Live. Cyclists from near and far have been gearing up for the event this weekend, which will see riders bike 192 miles across the state of Massachusetts. The ride begins early Saturday morning. The PMC was set to open the stock market on Friday, proving just how big this event has become. The Pan Mass Challenge raises money for cancer research. “I think everyone needs to feel a part of something bigger than themselves, particularly with cancer,” Starr said. “In the PMC, you’re a part of something pretty big, and on the weekend itself it’s really palpable — so many people working together to move you on down the line.” Due to the help of sponsors, 100-percent of the money raised by riders in the PMC will go toward cancer research for the third straight year. Starr put the use of this money into simple terms. “It’s seed money for great ideas and you never know when the next great idea will happen,” Starr said. If you haven’t donated yet, there is still time. Visit the Team NECN PMC donor page to make a donation of any size.
