Police have released the name of the Massachusetts man who died while working on a road construction project in Rhode Island.
Warwick police say 45-year-old Paulo Matos of Fall River, Massachusetts, was killed just before 2 a.m. Wednesday when a large piece of construction equipment fell on him.
Deputy Chief Michael Babula tells The Providence Journal that Matos was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the state Transportation Department are investigating.
Matos was working for AGI Construction of Smithfield, one of several contractors involved in the three-year, $30-million project.
The company's president, Mark Albert, previously said he was deeply saddened and extremely distraught. Matos, a father of two, was described as a hard worker and wonderful friend.
