Audit of MBTA Finds Serious Discrepancies

The audit found a gap of $100m between the automated fare collection system’s record and actual money collected

(NECN) - Results of an audit of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority released Thursday show a startling discrepancy between the automated fare collection system and the actual money collected, among other issues.

State auditor Suzanne Bump found a $100 million gap between the system's records and the actual money collected.

The MBTA claims the issues identified reflect software integration issues in the system, and not a loss of revenue.
