Cause of Mass. Gas Explosion Under Investigation

At least 18 people are injured, 2 buildings destroyed after natural gas explosion in Springfield

(NECN: Deanna Morgan, Springfield, Mass.) - Authorities are investigating the cause of a natural gas explosion that leveled at least two buildings and injured at least 18 people in Springfield, Mass. Friday.

The explosion happened in the entertainment district on Worthington Street, and officials say it occurred at the Scores Gentleman's Club.

Among the 18 people injured in the blast are firefighters, police officers and gas company workers; however, none of the injuries is considered life-threatening.

Officials say at least a dozen other buildings nearby sustained major damage in the blast.
