(NECN) - Officials in the Philippines say the country appears to have avoided a major disaster from one of the strongest storms on record.

The rapidly-moving typhoon blew away before it could do additional damage.

The storm slammed into central Philippines on Friday, killing at least four people and forcing hundreds of thousands from their homes.

NECN meterologist Matt Noyes takes a closer look at the typhoon in this report.
