Nine Dead in Connecticut Workplace Shooting

(NECN: Brian Burnell, Manchester, Conn.) - A warehouse driver who allegedly shot at least eight co-workers before being fatally shot at a Connecticut beer distribution facility had allegedly complained of racial harassment at work.

The gunman has been identified by a Hartford Distributors executive as Omar Thornton.

Police found Thornton with a fatal gunshot wound, according to Manchester Police.

Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell has issued a statement on the Manchester shootings:

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the employees and families of the victims. In the wake of this tragedy, we are all left asking the same questions: How could someone do this? Why did they do this?

"It was a senseless act of violence that has left us all shaken and reminds us just how precious and fragile life truly is."
