(TV Diner) - Both a restaurant and a nightclub, Harbourside Lobstermania is the place to go to pair great seafood with nightly entertainment. Harbourside Lobstermania --- you can't resist a restaurant with such an interesting name, so we made our way down to East Greenwich, Rhode Island, to find out what this waterfront restaurant is all about.
First off - it's located at a busy marina in scenic Greenwich Cove, and you can arrive by boat if you like. Imagine that -- cold drinks and hot seafood after an afternoon on Narragansett Bay! Secondly, this place is crazy about lobster, hence the name Lobstermania. A Harbourside tradition for the past 30 years is its signature dish - a baked lobster stuffed with a mixture of shrimp, scallops, Chablis wine and cracker crumbs. With warm drawn butter on the side, it just doesn't get much better than that in New England in the summertime. Seafood reigns supreme here, but there's plenty of choices for landlubbers as well. We most definitely liked the mushrooms stuffed with scallops and shrimp, the huge "stuffies," the fried calamari, and the scallops wrapped in bacon -- and that was just for starters. Make sure you order the authentic Rhode Island chowder -- a clear broth loaded with tender potatoes and briny clams. And then if somehow that's not enough, this place has an old-fashioned salad bar where you'll surely be able to feast until you are full. Everyone at our table gave a big thumbs up for the food, from a simple boiled lobster to the baked seafood platter to the excellent and fresh fish and chips. Even the accompanying baked potatoes and French fries met with our approval. Appetizers will cost you between $3 and $12; entrees between $15 and $17, with the lobster dishes set at a fluctuating market price. Everything was great except for the service, which was a bit painful. Our overwhelmed waiter simply could not keep up with our party of six, and the dirty plates and glasses just kept piling up. For that reason - we give the Harbourside Lobstermania the gold plate. Located at 38 Water Street in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Harbourside Lobstermania is open for lunch and dinner every day of the week.
