Two More Men Sentenced for Roles in Deadly NH Home Invasion

(NECN: Lauren Collins, Nashua, NH) - Two more men have been sentenced for their roles in a deadly Mont Vernon, New Hampshire home invasion.

"You planned, and you watched and you celebrated the unspeakable horrors you inflicted on an innocent mother and child," said a stern Hon. Gillian Abramson as she sent William Marks away for 30 to 60 years for his role in the Mont Vernon home invasion.

The 19-year-old Marks pleaded guilty to burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and accomplice to first degree assault for the October 2009 attack that left Kimberly Cates dead and her daughter Jamie badly injured.

"If he could go back and change it, he would, and it's just devastating for every parent of these boys" said Mark's father, James, who explained he makes no excuse for his son's bad decisions.

Also sentenced Monday - Quinn Glover. He'll serve 20 to 40 years for robbery, burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. The state says he was the least involved in the thrill kill. Still, the quiet 19 year old says he'll never forgive himself.

"There's nothing that I can do that will ever make up for my despicable actions," Glover told the court Monday.

Prosecutors say there's proof both Glover and Marks tried to bail on Steven Spader and Christopher Gribble the night of the attack.

"I have failed everybody who ever believed in me," said Glover, "through my actions and lack thereof."

Unimpressed by the remorse of two men who could have stopped a nightmare but didn't, Abramson told Marks she reluctantly accepts the plea deal.

"I can now understand why the state was forced to deal with the devil."

William Marks' sentence bars him from profiting off of his role. He'd previously testified that he and his dad were going to sell their story. James Marks denies that was ever an option and says he's failed his son.

"If you have a kid who just picked up a new friend and they're getting in trouble left and right, do whatever you can short of tying him to the radiator to keep him away from them," he said.
