Vermont Woman Launches Unemployment Letter-writing Campaign

(NECN/CNN) - A Vermont woman is making sure the voices of the unemployed are heard.

Alexandra Jarrin, unemployed and homeless, collects letters from other Americans who've exhausted their 99 weeks of benefits and delivers them to Senator Bernard Sanders, who is leading a charge to stall a tax cut compromise on capitol hill.

While the current proposal would extend benefits for 13 months for those currently receiving unemployment insurance, it does nothing for those who have already run out of benefits.

Photojournalist Soug Schantz brings us her story.
